Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has claimed West Ham may face competition for the signature of Jesse Lingard towards the end of the transfer window.
This comes as the Hammers continue to be linked with a permanent move for the 28-year-old following a superb loan spell in east London last season.
Despite returning to parent club Manchester United for the new season, reports have claimed the Irons could still land the England man before deadline day strikes.
Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson claimed David Moyes may not have a clear path to Lingard.
Lingard looked like a player who found his love for football again last season. I thought he was unlucky not to be in the Euros squad. He looked like the quality player everyone saw when he broke through at Manchester United. I think a move away would be good for him. At West Ham he seemed happy, played with freedom, and played probably the best football I’ve seen from him. He looked reinvigorated last season, so it wouldn’t be beneficial for him to sit on the bench for Man United. If he wants to leave and United want to sell, and that becomes public, he will have a lot more suitors than just West Ham. West Ham will have to move quickly and quietly if it’s a deal that they want to do I can see it happening.
The 29 times capped ace was omitted from Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s squad over the opening weekend having tested positive for Covid-19 a week earlier.

Robinson is bang on the money here.
Already linked with the likes of Leicester City and Arsenal, were Lingard to suddenly become available, West Ham will be desperate to be at the front of the queue.
Somewhat of an also-ran in Manchester given their countless attacking options, Moyes viewed the attacking midfielder as a big part of the squad last term and would no doubt relish a return.
