Former Premier League striker Brian Deane believes Fulham striker Aleksander Mitrovic would be a worthwhile signing for West Ham this summer.
The Hammers have been linked with the Serbian frontman recently as Irons boss David Moyes goes in search of additional options ahead of next season.
With numerous options touted, Mitrovic has emerged among the frontrunners tasked with replacing Sebastien Haller at the London Stadium.
Despite enduring a difficult campaign with Scott Parker’s side, Deane, who represented the Hammers on 28 occasions during his playing career, has told Football FanCast that the Serbian would be a worthwhile option for Moyes.
You need somebody who knows the way around the box. You know, there’s a lot of people out there who will just take a look at a player and not understand why a manager wants somebody like him. This is a guy who is the record scorer for his country. Yeah, he’s not the most mobile of players. But what you’ve got with him is somebody who is there to finish off moves, so I think he would be a good signing.
This season the 26-year-old managed just four goals and four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
Away from the domestic struggles, Mitrovic has continued to star for his nation, scoring during recent international breaks to take his tally to a remarkable 41 goals from 64 caps.

Seemingly never far from controversy, Mitrovic has enjoyed successful Premier League campaigns prior to this one – namely back to back 11 goal seasons.
Valued at £16.2million and under contract until 2024, signing the Serbian is unlikely to be an easy task.
Having said that, the recent relegation and overall lack of game time could see the striker looking to move on – perhaps a stay in London could work.
