Former Premier League midfielder Keith Gillespie doesn’t believe Blackburn Rovers will stand in the way of West Ham target Adam Armstrong this summer.
According to various reports, David Moyes could be set to turn to the 24-year-old striker at the end of the season as the Scot looks to bolster his options at the London Stadium.
A former Newcastle United youth prospect, Armstrong has taken the Championship by storm this season, scoring 26 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
Gillespie, who represented the Lancashire club on 73 occasions in the top flight, has told Football League World that Rovers would be unlikely to stop their striker from making a Premier League switch.
He’s been a regular goalscorer in the Championship for them. So when Blackburn in the last couple of seasons haven’t really looked like they’re going to promoted, like they’re going to get in the play-offs, you know if a club comes in for him I’m sure that they won’t want to stand in his way.
The 46-year-old went on to praise Armstrong for his previous loyalty, before admitting were the frontman to leave Ewood Park there could be no ‘blame’ attached.
Following a recent brace against Huddersfield Town, manager Tony Mowbray lauded his frontman as a ‘fabulous’ footballer who is as ‘sharp as a razor’.

Signing the Rovers ace this summer would go a long way to fix a problem current rearing its head in Moyes’ squad.
Despite being unproven at the elite level, Armstrong’s goalscoring prowess has been clear for all to see and the Hammers would be confident in their ability to provide the ammunition.
With multiple levels of asking price mooted, it remains to be seen just what sort of valuation Blackburn place on their prized assets head.
