West Ham star Declan Rice became embroiled in an on-air debate between talkSPORT presenters Jason Cundy and Andy Goldstein on Tuesday night.
Discussing player nicknames, Cundy – a former Chelsea player – claimed Mason Mount was known simply as ‘Mase’.
Unsure, show host Goldstein, a Manchester United fan, contacted Hammers ace and best friend to the Blues youngster, Rice.
Soon after the 22-year-old got in touch with the show and all was revealed live, as posted by the station’s official Twitter account.
Twitter:
𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧: “I call Mason Mount ‘Mase’ – that’s his nickname, right?”
𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐲: “Shall I ask Declan Rice?”

After yet more conjecture followed over Rice’s nickname, the 15-cap England man confirmed his own nickname in football circles was ‘Dec’, not some of the other names suggested on the show.
Currently working his way back to full fitness from a knee injury, David Moyes will be desperate to get his combative central midfielder back into the heart of the midfield.

Rice comes across yet again as a wonderfully amicable individual here.
Not only is the youngster growing in stature on the field, but also proving himself to be a hugely approachable person off it also.
Having captained the side for much of the season, Rice looks to be the perfect successor to Mark Noble as club captain at the London Stadium.
