As the prospects of West Ham playing European football under David Moyes next season edges tantalisingly closer than ever before, the need for a new striker remains pertinent to the concerns of many fans.
In the latest development on the Hammers’ striker hunt, the shift appears to be on young home-grown talent hungry for regular football at the highest levels.
Having been heavily linked with the pacey and prolific Adam Armstrong from Blackburn, the latest reports have identified three new major targets that top West Ham’s striker shortlist.
The trio named are Championship top scorer Ivan Toney of Brentford, Chelsea’s target man Tammy Abraham and Arsenal prospect Eddie Nketiah, as per reports in the Daily Star
With Michail Antonio remaining as the only experienced striker in the senior Hammers squad, a sense of inevitability surrounds the idea that the Irons’ recruitment team will be putting a new forward at the top of their summer to-do list.
All four of the aforementioned targets share a similar age and are all home-grown – potentially helping with squad registration quotas – and at least one may well be donning claret and blue next season.
Many West Ham fans were excited by the news as they took a comparative approach debating which options they would take – and one name stood out as unwanted…
