West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen has earned himself a pay rise at the club, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

The former Hull City man, who arrived at the London Stadium for the princely sum of £22m last January, has reportedly triggered a clause in his contract after reaching his 30th club appearance against Everton.

In featuring in the Hammers’ New Years Day clash, Bowen activated an automatic option which ensured a ‘significant pay rise’ for the home-grown talent.

Bowen initially struggled to make an impact and hold down a starting berth under David Moyes, with just 11 starts and two substitute appearances in the league for West Ham during the second half of last season. In that time, he only managed to score one goal but did end up providing four assists.

Bowen has boosted his goal threat exponentially this season, scoring four times and setting up two goals, whilst he has already made 16 starts this season as Moyes’ preferred right-sided attacking threat (Transfermarkt).

With Bowen becoming increasingly essential to David Moyes’ plans, it is fitting that he has been rewarded for his contributions to the Hammers.

Whilst the nature of the pay rise inevitably diverts funds away from West Ham’s transfer coffers, Bowen seems to be steadily growing into life in the Premier League. Able to feature on either wing and as a central attacking midfielder, Bowen also possesses a strong degree of versatility.

At just 24 years of age, expect Bowen to be a focal point of West Ham attacks for seasons to come as he quickly builds upon the 30 appearances he has clocked up so far.
