David Moyes has offered an enticing four-word hint as to how the West Ham board plans to back him in the January transfer window.
Despite concerns over a lack of loosening on the Hammers’ purse strings, the manager claimed in a press conference via Football Daily that there may be resources available to him to bring in some players.
The Hammers managed to secure a victory and a clean sheet thanks to a Tomas Soucek goal against Everton on New Year’s Day, but they were previously been blighted by injuries and have struggled to pick up wins in recent games. Michail Antonio is being nursed back into the fold, while Arthur Masuaku is a long-term absentee owing to recent knee surgery.
As a consequence, the transfer window represents an opportunity for the club to bring in cover for a number of key areas – especially up front and at left-back.
When asked about the current window and whether he will be sufficiently backed by the West Ham ownership, Moyes claimed that the Hammers ‘might go for it’ if the right player at the right cost becomes available.
This cryptic clue comes after Moyes confirmed that his communications with the board have shown a willingness to see him backed in the market.

After recent reports demonstrated that Moyes indeed has a pivotal role in identifying talent he would like to bring to the London Stadiun, this news only further confirms the paramountcy of his opinion.
The apparent level communication and consultations between the board and Moyes should be somewhat refreshing for West Ham fans.
While frugality seems a key part of January plans, there also appears a possibility that some new faces could be seen in claret and blue this month.
