Winston Reid is facing a potential turning point in his career after his time on loan at Sporting Kansas City came to an end this week.
The 32-year-old defender is due to return to West Ham in the coming weeks but faces the prospect of being cast aside by David Moyes.
Reid enjoyed something of a resurgence during his time in the MLS after a difficult year with injury, but Moyes is unlikely to see a future for the New Zealander within his squad at the London Stadium.
ExWHUemployee confirmed on The West Ham Way podcast that the club are ‘likely to allow him to leave’ the Hammers, although the player’s wages could be a stumbling block.
With 166 Premier League appearances since coming to the club a decade ago, Reid has been a credible servant to West Ham and could well provide a viable option to a fellow top-flight club who are struggling to stem the flow of goals.
In the interim, sections of the Irons faithful have already been debating their views on the centre-back’s future…
