Leeds United are reportedly set to hijack West Ham’s move for Danish centre-back Frederik Alves, according to Danish outlet BT.
After seemingly being close to agreeing on a deal worth around £1.2m with Denmark Division 1 club Silkeborg for the 6’3 20-year-old, a fresh report has now claimed fellow Premier League side Leeds have now entered the race for the signature.
Russian club’s FK Rostov and Dinamo Zagreb are also believed to be interested in the young defender.
The same report also claims that although any deal couldn’t be completed until January, a move could be confirmed as early as this week.
The Danish Under 21 international has already played 49 senior games for Silkeborg, including almost every minute of the opening seven league fixtures this season.

Having seemingly been so close to clinching a deal for the young defender, who is already a regular in senior football, the reported interest from other parties will come as a blow for David Moyes.
The summer quest for a centre-back ultimately ended in bringing Craig Dawson in on a season-long loan deal, a move which in the short term solves an immediate issue in terms of defensive options.
However, long term the Irons need replacements for the likes of Issa Diop and Angello Ogbonna, Alves could well be that man should the Hammers retain their interest.
