Putting Eze pursuit on hold could be a big mistake from West Ham

According to Football Insider, West Ham United have put their pursuit of Eberechi Eze on hold for the time being and we feel that this could be a big mistake.

The playmaker has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several weeks after some fine displays in the Championship this season.

As stated in the report, the Hammers are still assessing their options ahead of the summer transfer window and although they’re interested in the QPR youngster, they’re not ready to proceed with negotiations just yet.

We believe this could be a huge mistake for a few reasons.

Firstly, there are multiple other clubs interested in Eze, so by stalling now, the Hammers may fall behind in the race for his signature.

London rivals Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the 21-year-old and this could be the chance for them to take the lead in the pursuit.

Furthermore, the Hammers could be losing ground on securing a deal for a potentially ideal replacement for Manuel Lanzini.

The Argentine has had a disappointing season, registering just three assists this season, resulting in many fans turning on him.

Meanwhile, Eze has been in sensational form.

He has netted 12 times in the Championship, whilst also providing eight assists (Transfermarkt), making us feel that he could be the perfect player to bring in to replace Lanzini.

The Hammers lost out to Gedson Fernandes in January in similar circumstances to Tottenham, so we feel avoiding the same mistake with Eze should be a priority.
