West Ham fans cynical about claims club “seriously” tried to sign Roberto Gagliardini

Some West Ham fans have reacted cynically to claims that the club “seriously” tried to sign Inter Milan midfielder Roberto Gagliardini.

According to reports from Calcio Mercato, the Hammers were very serious about making a move for the midfielder, but were stopped in their pursuit as Inter did not want to sell the player.

The Serie A side were reluctant to part with the midfielder, especially mid-way through the campaign.

West Ham did eventually get a midfielder in, with Tomas Soucek joining on loan from Slavia Prague with an option to buy this summer.

However, the Hammers did miss out on Gagliardini, with the player remaining at Inter Milan and not making the switch to the London Stadium.

Several West Ham fans reacted to the news of the Hammers reported pursuit of Gagliardini with many doubting that the club “seriously” tried to make a move for the Italian midfielder.
