David Moyes has provided a somewhat worrying, but comforting update on West Ham United’s transfer prospects ahead of next week’s winter deadline.
The Hammers have made just one signing so far this month, bringing Darren Randolph back from Middlesbrough for £4million, but there are plenty of areas in need of reinforcements.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Everton on Saturday, Moyes told reporters, cited by Claret & Hugh, that he insists on making sure his signings are the right fit, rather than panic buying:
I don’t want to do is bring in players that are not going to have an impact on the team. They have to have an impact on the team now, or buying a player that will be here for the next three, four, five years, longevity and develop into a top player. To get one who is in between that, a top player in the Premier League, is difficult. I don’t want to take players other teams don’t want.

West Ham fans will rightly be starting to worry about the club failing to recruit much-needed reinforcements, with just 10 days left of the transfer window.
However, I think many could take comfort in Moyes’ transfer philosophy, especially considering some of the club’s recent flops.
Don’t get me wrong, plenty of teams, not just West Ham, need to sign players this month but there’s no point in spending money on a player for the sake of pleasing fans.
Whilst I believe there are plenty of good fits that the Hammers should be in for, I can also only respect Moyes’ mindset.
Overall, I do think West Ham will make at least one more signing this month but with so much speculation, it’s admittedly difficult to pinpoint who.
