David Moyes has been dealt another blow in his search for a new member of the coaching staff following Stuart Pearce’s broken down return.
Pearce was set to join Moyes in returning to the London Stadium dugout before West Ham United’s owners apparently blocked his arrival.
Now, according to the Sunday Express (19/1, p. 67), Alan Stubbs has turned down the chance to join Moyes’ backroom staff and it remains to be seen if the West Ham boss will look elsewhere.
Stubbs played under Moyes at Goodison Park before going on to coach the Under-21s team, but it looks like the Scotsman won’t be getting a reunion.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Although things don’t seem to be going to plan for Moyes off the pitch at the moment, his main focus should be getting West Ham away from the bottom three.
In my opinion, he’s had a positive effect so far but sitting just one point above the relegation zone, there is still plenty of work to be done.
It’s obviously a big blow going for two coaches and not getting either of them, but it’s not the end of the world and he’s been doing fine without them so far.
I think Moyes will eventually add to his backroom staff but for now, recruitment for on the pitch could be a little more important.
It seems like West Ham have endured similar luck with player recruitment this month, but I still believe there will be at least one more new arrival.
