Roberto has only been a West Ham United player for just over six months, but his stay in East London has come to an end.
West Ham have confirmed the 33-year-old has moved back to Spain on loan until the end of the 2019-20 season.
Roberto is the next to arrive at Alaves in the January transfer window after 10 appearances under Manuel Pellegrini.
Former Cardiff City and Crystal Palace midfielder Victor Camarasa has already joined the ranks during the window, with Roberto set to join him.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Roberto has made eight West Ham appearances in the Premier League during his short stint, but his career in East London has been marred by high-profile mistakes.
With the arrival of Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph last week, David Moyes now has four ‘keepers at his disposal and I think it’s a good idea to let one leave.
The Spaniard last featured in the 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, so with David Martin ahead of him in the pecking order, his Hammers career is probably over.
We believe he hasn’t shown that he’s good enough for the Premier League and the number of West Ham fans disappointed with his exit will be limited.
This transfer could be received as a step in the right direction, albeit a small one.
