With Ryan Fredericks set to be sidelined for the next couple of weeks through a hamstring injury, West Ham United seem to be on the lookout for a new right-sided defender.
According to FC Inter News, Inter Milan are ‘reflecting’ on offers from West Ham and Werder Bremen for right-wing-back Valentino Lazaro, with both clubs ‘asking for information’ regarding a loan until the end of the season.
FC Inter News reported in November that Inter had turned down an offer from the Hammers, but now they are considering the interest due to his game time, or lack of.
Lazaro has made just six Serie A appearances under Antonio Conte this season after the Italian giants paid Hertha BSC £20million for him in the summer.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
I think West Ham are certainly right to be looking at options at right-back, considering 34-year-old Pablo Zabaleta is now the club’s only fit first-team player in that area.
The Argentine is probably not going to be able to cope with the workload and therefore Fredericks’ injury was a crucial blow.
I think Lazaro may be a bit of a far-fetched target though, especially because Conte could want all the personnel he can have to push for the Serie A title.
Overall, I would consider this transfer to be bordering the unlikely side of things, however, it’ll be interesting to see how Inter ultimately respond to West Ham’s enquiry.
