As the January transfer window nears the end of its second week, West Ham United’s search for midfield reinforcements continues.
The Hammers have been linked with all the names under the sun so far in 2020, but one name, in particular, has been at the forefront of the speculation.
Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes looks to be on the move this month and there’s plenty of Premier League interest, with Everton and Manchester United also linked.
According to club insider ExWHUEmployee, West Ham’s interest has stalled though, as they consider whether other options would offer greater value for money.
The report claims talks are ongoing, however, David Moyes is looking at other options including Genk star Sander Berge.

Benfica are said to be willing to send Gedson out on an 18-month loan with the option to buy, so it seems like a fairly risk-free transfer.
It’s understandable that West Ham want to go for the best value possible though, considering there are other areas the club wants to strengthen this month.
We believe, especially because of other Premier League interest, the Irons should follow up their interest and secure Gedson on loan.
If he joins another club and flourishes, it’ll be a classic case of the one that got away.
