West Ham United have suffered a setback in their bid to bring Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph back to the London Stadium.
The Hammers had agreed a £4million fee with the Championship club and deal was expected to be announced on Tuesday night.
According to KUMB, Randolph, who has missed 12 of Middlesbrough’s last 14 games through a thigh injury, didn’t pass the all-important medical examination.
Fear not though, the 32-year-old stopper is expected to undergo a second medical today in order to push a move back to East London through.
READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT
It’s no secret West Ham are in dire need of a new back-up ‘keeper, with both summer signings, Roberto and David Martin, not up to scratch.
Mistakes were Roberto’s forte when covering for Lukasz Fabianski earlier in the season, while Martin suffered a similar injury to the Pole after a handful of consecutive games.
If the exciting transfer goes through, it’ll be a shrewd piece of business by West Ham considering they sent Randolph to Teeside for £5million in 2017, according to TeesideLive.
The Republic of Ireland international wouldn’t be taking a second medical if there wasn’t a feeling he’ll be good to go.
With that being said, we believe the deal should be safe and confirmed by the end of the week, despite this worrying setback.
