Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Jack Wilshere isn’t yet ready to return to action ahead of a hectic winter period for West Ham United.
A groin injury has kept him on the sidelines since a substitute appearance against Everton in October.
There was initially hope he’d be ready to feature against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day after a prolonged break since the last outing at Southampton.
However, cited by Sports Mole, a frustrated Pellegrini explained the situation and suggested there isn’t a return date in mind:
Jack continues every week trying to work, but when he works harder he starts to feel pain in his groin. He is seeing different doctors to see what has happened. He’s a player we need a lot, a different player, but if he’s not 100 per cent recovered it’s difficult for him to work.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
The 27-year-old has started just six Premier League games for West Ham since joining on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer, making just 16 appearances as a whole.
His absence has meant Declan Rice has been heavily relied on this term in midfield, with Carlos Sanchez and Mark Noble the only other options to play in defensive midfield.
It’s likely his Hammers career will come to an end in January, that’s if there’s any interest, anyway.
He hasn’t justified his salary in the slightest.
