Former Leeds United star Danny Mills has endorsed West Ham United’s interest in Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.
The 26-year-old stopper has undergone a decline in recent years and is currently struggling in the bottom half of the Championship with Stoke.
He’s said to be on the market in January though, with The Potters valuing him at £20million and West Ham searching for a new man to go in between the sticks.
Speaking to Football Insider, Mills praised Butland and suggested that if he was to move to the London Stadium, he could rediscover the form that once made him England no. 1:
He’s certainly available isn’t he, he’s a solid keeper. He was England’s No.1 at one point, he’s a big physical presence. He is undoubtedly a solid goalkeeper and sometimes you just need a change just because it resets your confidence, it resets your self-belief. Suddenly you have different surroundings, different regime and overnight you rediscover your form.

There’s certainly a quality player in there somewhere with Butland and I’d say the high-profile errors he’s made in recent years come down to confidence.
If he returned to a Premier League club, you’d imagine he’ll be sky high and ready to become that promising star he once was in the top-flight.
Now a more experienced player, he certainly brings a lot to the table and as long as West Ham invest in other areas too, not many fans would complain about this one.
