It seems like former Liverpool defender Javier Manquillo’s fine form has been recognised, but it may not be good news for Newcastle United with West Ham United on the prowl.
The Spanish right-back has been a stand-out performer for Newcastle in recent weeks, with Manchester City and Sheffield United especially notable displays.
According to the Northern Echo, West Ham are set to launch a £5million bid to sign Manquillo in January after an impressive start to the season.
Manquillo’s contract at St. James’ Park expires in the summer, so the Magpies may be tempted to cash in on him while they can.

The proposed £5m fee is, in fact, £500,000 more than what Newcastle paid for Manquillo back in 2017 and could be enough to lure him to East London.
Ryan Fredericks hasn’t had a particularly poor campaign so far, but there’s always been a feeling that West Ham can upgrade and that’s what they would be doing in signing Manquillo.
Fredericks is more attacking-minded, but Manquillo would act as a solid replacement for Pablo Zabaleta and provide West Ham with two good options on the right side of the defence.
This could be an interesting story to follow, for sure.
