West Ham United have been looking to offload summer flop Albian Ajeti in January but wanted to loan him out rather than sell him.
However, a recent report claims it’s near impossible to do so due to UEFA’s rules regarding how many clubs he’s represented this season.
According to Sky Sports, cited by Claret & Hugh, the rule states that because he’s already played a competitive match for both Basel and West Ham this term, he would only be able to join a club starting a new campaign in the new year.
The report also claims that ‘several’ European clubs made loan offers for Ajeti, not knowing they wouldn’t be able to register him before the summer.

With the Switzerland international understandably becoming more restless, the most likely outcome here is that he’s sold for a loss in January.
There will be clubs interested in his services, despite his disappointing stint in East London, so it’s a shame to see it end like this.
West Ham could, of course, hold onto him until the end of the campaign but it feels like Manuel Pellegrini has no interest in utilising him further.
It’ll be intriguing to see what happens with him next month.
