Lukasz Fabianski is on the brink of returning from a 10-week injury and David Martin could still be feeling the effects of a knock suffered in Friday’s 1-0 win at Southampton.
Martin kept his second clean sheet in four games since replacing Roberto as deputy goalkeeper but seemed to hurt his groin during a late goal-kick.
According to Football Insider, neither ‘keeper maybe 100% for the Boxing Day trip to Crystal Palace but Manuel Pellegrini is ready to put them at risk.
The report claims both players are in a race for fitness before the big game at Selhurst Park but Pellegrini is ready to use one or the other.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
You can understand why the West Ham United manager isn’t keen on restoring Roberto in goal after his calamitous spell at the club.
However, it’d be utterly ridiculous to risk Fabianski after almost three months on the sidelines, whether he’s planning on buying a new goalkeeper in January or not.
Martin will hopefully be ready to start his fifth consecutive game after helping the Hammers to two wins in their last four.
There’s said to be a growing feeling that Fabianski will be ready to start in between the sticks though, so hopefully we’ll see him if he’s fully fit.
