Ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson has weighed in on West Ham United’s current situation in between the sticks amid speculation surrounding ex-Chelsea star Asmir Begovic.
It’s looking likely the Hammers will delve into the January transfer window to sign a new back-up to Lukasz Fabianski.
One Premier League player that seems to be available at the moment is AFC Bournemouth’s Begovic.
Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson was very keen on the idea of West Ham pursuing a deal for the 32-year-old:
I think he is a very very good goalkeeper, a top goalkeeper. He’s someone who’d be ideal for West Ham as he knows the Premier League, he is experienced, he has played at the top level at Chelsea, he is going to add confidence and stability to the back-four. And if he becomes available, it would be brilliant for West Ham, as he’d be a very astute signing.

Begovic has been out of favour at the Vitality Stadium for a while now and will likely be looking for a move in the near future.
West Ham could offer him regular Premier League game-time whenever Fabianski can’t feature, although he’s nearing a recovery.
Aged 32 now, Begovic would surely be happy to be making the bench in a top-flight matchday squad and he’s still a top-class goalkeeper on his day.
It’d be a smart move by the Hammers so it’ll be intriguing to see who they go for next month.
