West Ham United’s ongoing search for a new goalkeeper to sign in January has taken a new twist, with a potential return on the cards.
33-year-old David Martin is currently deputising for the injured Lukasz Fabianski after Roberto’s abysmal run in between the sticks.
Despite both players arriving on free transfers in the summer, Manuel Pellegrini is already preparing to delve into the market again next month.
And according to Claret & Hugh, West Ham have confirmed that talks have begun for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph.
A Hammers source has described Randolph as the ‘perfect back-up’ for Fabianski after he spent two years at the club between 2015 and 2017.

The 32-year-old was last season’s Championship goalkeeper of the year and with 40 Republic of Ireland caps to his name, he would bring both quality and experience.
With Middlesbrough languishing in 19th, they look set for a relegation battle and Randolph would likely be open to a return to East London.
His £30k-a-week wages would also be too steep for a League One club and therefore Boro themselves may deem it right to let him go.
It’s going to be interesting to see how this one develops because it seems movement is certainly there.
