Reports this week have suggested that West Ham United are in contact with former Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom over a January move.
The 24-year-old striker from Canning Town left London to join Greek giants PAOK in 2018 and has scored 11 goals in 48 appearances.
According to @ExWHUEmployee though, there is no serious interest in Akpom’s services and although the club has looked at him in the past, he’s not on the top of the list.
It does seem like Manuel Pellegrini will look to bolster his squad with a new striker in January, but Akpom may not be the player he wants.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Considering he’s playing in Greece, with all due respect, 11 goals in 48 appearances isn’t exactly prolific form.
The Hammers already have a back-up option in Albian Ajeti but it was soon figured that he may not cut it in the Premier League.
There’s a major risk of Akpom suffering the same fate if he was to return to English football, and it’s not one West Ham should take.
West Ham should definitely be looking to recruit a new frontman to offer strong competition for Sebastien Haller though.
It’s just important it’s the right man, especially considering the pressure Mario Husillos is currently under.
