Mario Husillos’ status as West Ham United’s director of football is severely under threat if the latest reports are anything to go by.
The board’s discontent with his impact has led to major question marks being asked, and the plug could finally be pulled soon.
According to Football Insider, West Ham are tempted to pay the seven-figure fee required to terminate Husillos’ contract with the club as they plan to bring in a new director of football.
The signings he recommended are being reviewed and the board are said to be particularly disappointed with Roberto and Pablo Fornals.
£40million was also splashed out to capture Sebastien Haller, but the French striker has scored just four goals so far this season.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
You can’t deny the fact that West Ham’s recent signings haven’t lived up to the billing whatsoever and the Roberto capture is a major cause for concern in itself.
If Husillos was to lose his job, it would be justified and he couldn’t have any complaints about it – recruitment hasn’t been good enough.
He arrived from Malaga, where he worked with Manuel Pellegrini, so if the Chilean manager was to depart, it’d make Husillos’ exit even more likely.
