Former Leeds United ace Noel Whelan believes ‘liability’ Roberto has played his last game in a West Ham United shirt after David Martin’s Chelsea display.
Martin made his Hammers debut and kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 triumph at Stamford Bridge, following a run of woeful results with Roberto in between the sticks.
Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan was fairly adamant we won’t see Roberto play for West Ham again with the January transfer window looming large:
I’m afraid to say that, at Premier League level, he is awful in goal. He’s played his last West Ham game if they’re bringing in a new keeper in January. They’ll definitely get rid if they can find a buyer, which may be easier said than done.

It’s most likely no coincidence that Manuel Pellegrini’s side put in a strong defensive performance and earned a huge result in the first game Roberto was dropped.
He’s endured an absolutely atrocious spell deputising for the injured Lukasz Fabianski and Martin fully deserves to start again against Wolves.
If West Ham can sell Roberto in January you’d think they will, but it’d be baffling to see another club spend money on the 33-year-old based on recent form.
What a story it’s turning into for Martin, regardless of the negative energy surrounding his counterpart.
