The reports linking former Liverpool and Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez with a return to the Premier League by replacing Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham United just won’t go away.
Pellegrini’s job is under serious threat and a flurry of names have already been heavily linked to the job, including Eddie Howe, David Moyes and Sean Dyche.
According to Football Insider, West Ham are huge admirers of Benitez and are ‘keen’ to pursue his services for the third time.
The report claims the Spaniard doesn’t think he will get the terms he wants though, which could be a major hurdle considering his current salary in China.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Benitez’s Premier League exit in the summer felt slightly forced and it feels like he has unfinished business, so it’s certainly a realistic possibility.
West Ham will have to splash out to persuade him to get on board at the London Stadium though, so it may be a question of how desperate they are to get their man.
With Chelsea, Wolves and Arsenal right around the corner for the Hammers, it really is make-or-break for Pellegrini.
Come out of those three fixtures looking better off in the league and he’ll live to fight another day; the other outcome could see West Ham stuck in a relegation battle.
