Soon after speculation regarding Manuel Pellegrini’s desire to let Albian Ajeti leave West Ham United after just a few months, a first club has been linked.
According to Turkish outlet Sporx, cited by Hammers News, Besiktas are actively pursuing a move for Ajeti in the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old is Sebastien Haller’s only competition upfront but is yet to score a goal or start a Premier League game for West Ham.
Costing £8million from Basel, the club won’t want to lose money on him so it’ll be interesting to see what Besiktas offer if their interest is real.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
In all honesty, whether Ajeti stays or leaves, West Ham need to bring in a new striker in January because Haller is already showing signs of struggle.
There are not enough outlets who are capable of providing goals in the current squad, which makes hopes of European qualification as dim as the football in recent weeks.
Ajeti deserves time and maybe a loan move away would be the best suggestion, even though he’s barely had much of a chance to impress since arriving in East London.
This story could be an interesting one to follow as we approach the new year.
