West Ham United were interested in signing Borja Iglesias last summer but eventually signed Sebastien Haller.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini was on the hunt for a new striker and Iglesias was one of the targets before he eventually left RCD Espanyol and joined Real Betis.

The striker has only scored once for his new club in the La Liga this season but feels he made the right decision to snub interest from the Hammers.
He was impressed by the “project” that Real Betis have and as quoted on Estadio Deportivo, he said:
You never know what will happen. When you face a possible transfer, you value many things. To me the idea of playing before 50,000 people motivated me a lot, at the team level I think I have improved a lot although in Espanyol it was also very good.
You are making decisions for feelings. I have always said that I like the Premier League and that I would like to play there one day, but I liked the project, and I am very happy.

Iglesias was in top goalscoring form for Espanyol last season, netting 20 times in all competitions.
He completed a £25m move to Betis which resulted in the hammers opting to sign Haller, who has also found it difficult to adapt to his new surroundings.
West Ham fans are calling for the club to sign another striker in January and they want him to be pacey and tricky, rather than a target man.
