James Collins has opened up about West Ham United’s current situation and believes it’s time to drop Roberto after a shocking run of form.
The Spaniard has been deputising for the injured Lukasz Fabianski but is making constant mistakes in between the sticks.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Collins explained why he believes third-choice goalkeeper David Martin should get a chance to impress against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend:
[Pellegrini] has got to be tempted [to make a change]. Roberto’s performances quite frankly haven’t been good enough and, as a centre-half, if you’re questioning your own keeper and wondering what he’s going to do, it affects your own game. I’m sure Pellegrini is thinking about a change [to bring in Martin] and if he does no one could argue.

Martin is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football, aged 33, so it’d obviously be a big move by Manuel Pellegrini to do so.
You’ve got to agree with what Collins is saying though, and sympathise with the current defenders having to play in front of a ‘keeper they clearly don’t trust.
It’s been a nightmare period since Fabianski’s injury but if Martin can come in and pull off a great performance, all may be forgotten.
The sooner the Polish international is back, the better…
