In the latest twist in this season’s goalkeeping dilemma at West Ham United, Roberto could be dropped as the injured Lukasz Fabianski’s deputy against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend.
According to Claret & Hugh, Manuel Pellegrini looks set to give third-choice ‘keeper David Martin a chance to impress in what will be his first appearance since joining from Millwall this summer.
The 33-year-old has been on the bench since Fabianski was sidelined at the end of September, but could swap roles with Roberto if he catches the eye in training during the international break.
Although many have been calling for Roberto to be dropped, and even sold, there has been a mixed reaction on social media to Martin’s impending inclusion…

Despite being at Liverpool from 2005 to 2010, Martin is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football.
With that being said, throwing into a huge game against Spurs is a monumental call by Pellegrini, but one that he’s ultimately been forced to make.
Roberto doesn’t look up to standard and if Martin takes his chance, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Spaniard lose his place in matchday squads altogether once Fabianski returns.
