Despite West Ham United’s dismal run of form, Declan Rice has continued to impress in midfield and it seems like interest in him is still not only present but high-profile too with Chelsea and Manchester United previously linked.
According to Goal, Man United are ready to back struggling manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January after making Rice a primary target alongside two other major names.
The report claims Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic is expected to arrive as back-up for United’s limp attacking options, whilst Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen is also on the agenda.
Rice is said to be the Red Devils’ top target though, with the 20-year-old viewed as a perfect midfield reinforcement following recent outgoings including Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.
READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT
If West Ham continue to underperform and a huge move presents itself for Rice, you really wouldn’t blame him for taking the opportunity.
He’s genuinely a player I can see spending his career at the London Stadium, but there will always be that temptation when one of the big guns come calling.
United’s chances of signing Rice in January are as slim as both West Ham and Solskjaer’s side qualifying for the Champions League though, so I wouldn’t worry about it yet.
