Former Manchester City and England defender Danny Mills has singled Declan Rice out as West Ham United’s star performer against Aston Villa on Monday.
He’s suggested Rice’s consistent level of performance warrants a move to a ‘big six’ team after standing out in midfield during the 0-0 draw at Villa Park.
Speaking to Football Insider, Mills explained how impressed he was with the 20-year-old’s continued contribution in Manuel Pellegrini’s side:
Declan Rice is there or thereabouts. For a young player, he’s getting those very high levels of consistency which is very, very important. He just needs to keep doing that and then he’ll just get stronger and stronger. For most teams outside the top-six, they’re going to lack a little bit of consistency and that’s why they’re not in the top-six.

There’s no doubting Rice is a unique talent and you could find away to fit him into any of the Premier League’s top six teams.
He’s expected to control the England midfield for the next decade and beyond, and the amount of praise he’s on the end of from pundits and fans alike only strengthens that prospect.
Rice certainly seems committed to the Hammers now, but once a European heavyweight comes calling it’s going to be very interesting whether he opts to stay loyal or move onto bigger things.
There would be major positives to joining all six of the top-flight’s leading clubs in one of the upcoming transfer windows and with all the hype currently surrounding his quality, it’s hard to picture it not coming to fruition.
