The majority of excitement amongst supporters during the summer was fuelled by West Ham United’s attacking arrivals, but could there be more on the way?
According to Turkish outlet Sabah, cited by Hammers News, West Ham have joined Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi.
Does the name ring a bell? That’s because Muriqi caught the eye whilst representing Moldova against England earlier in the month, assisting the opener and scoring a second-half penalty.
He’s been similarly impressive at the club level, scoring twice in his first three appearances for Fenerbahce this season after joining from Rizespor, where he scored 25 goals in 52 appearances.

Although Muriqi seems a prolific striker, do West Ham really need more attacking reinforcements?

I don’t think so. Manuel Pellegrini must strengthen his defence before the 2020-21 season kicks off, with Pablo Zabaleta departing, Aaron Cresswell underperforming and Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid getting no younger.
Standing at 6’4″ though, there’s no doubting Muriqi would be capable of making an impact in the Premier League.
But whilst Pellegrini uses a sole striker system at the London Stadium, the Hammers are more than covered in that area.
