Michail Antonio has sent a strong and determined message on social media following surgery that will keep him out of action for a number of months.
The 29-year-old tore his hamstring in last week’s 2-0 win at Newport County and will now miss at least half of what promises to be an exciting season.
He’s been one of Manuel Pellegrini’s most trusted goalscorers, so it comes as a big loss to the Hammers so early in the new campaign.
Many supporters were quick to wish Antonio well in his recovery, proving just how adored he is amongst the fanbase…

Antonio will certainly be missed during his absence, but the club must now turn this major negative into a positive by making the most out of their array of attacking talent.
Andriy Yarmolenko is showing a bit of goalscoring form early on, so the Irons may have a real player on their hands if he continues his exploits.
The likes of Pablo Fornals, Felipe Anderson and Manuel Lanzini are all showing real signs of promise too, not forgetting star striker Sebastien Haller.
It’s not the end of the world, as unfortunate as it is, and West Ham just need to continue winning games.
