There’s growing speculation about the severity of Michail Antonio’s injury he suffered at Newport County last month, and it’s horrendous news for West Ham United.
Antonio was forced off after just seven minutes in the Carabao Cup win at Rodney Parade for what seemed to be a standard hamstring problem at the time.
It’s now being said that the charismatic winger will need to undergo surgery suffering a grade three tear and could be out of action for up to five months.
If you do the maths, that’s more than half of what promises to be an excellent season at the London Stadium, and these supporters are gutted…

READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT
This hamstring injury in the third of Antonio’s career; the same problem has kept him sidelined for a total of 256 days in the past, but this blow is likely to hurt the most.
After selling Javier Hernandez to Sevilla earlier in the week, that decision now seems even riskier on West Ham’s part and Manuel Pellegrini will be praying for no more casualties over the international break.
Antonio is well-respected and liked amongst the Irons’ fanbase and did start the season looking like a real threat, so it’s a hard one to stomach for all.
I for one am wishing Antonio are speedy recovery and hopefully we can see him back to his best before the campaign is over.
