Arthur Masuaku’s unexplained absence as the West Ham United squad to face Manchester City was announced last week was a mystery.
The Frenchman wasn’t injured and has only just signed a new long-term deal so he can’t be low in Manuel Pellegrini’s pecking order – but supporters are now calling for him to return against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.
We asked on Twitter this afternoon who our readers would like to see start on the south coast on Saturday and the respondents seemed to have differences all over the field, apart from the left-back position:

Although I’d love to see Ben Johnson given an opportunity to shine in the Premier League, there are probably better games to bring him into and Masuaku featuring would be the correct call.
I just think Cresswell needs a break more than anything. The unhappy raucous online from Hammers fans if the team loses again following another below-par display from the vice-captain won’t help anyone.
Play Masuaku, the first-choice, and it’ll give those following the game a much-needed boost of confidence ahead of kick-off.
