Manchester City have been handed a huge boost following Pep Guardiola’s press conference, in which he confirmed that key duo Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez are available to face West Ham United this weekend.
The Premier League champions travel to the London Stadium on the opening day of the 2019-20 season, and their chances of getting a result may have just been improved.
West Ham have, without a doubt, recruited well over the summer though and will be stern opponents, however, City fans can’t contain their excitement over the update.

Read West Ham’s verdict
Even without Laporte and Mahrez in the team, City pose a large threat to West Ham in every area of the pitch and the Hammers must be at their very best if they are to get a result.
City’s depth is immaculate, so if Laporte was out, Nicolas Otamendi is likely to come in. Similarly to Mahrez, there are the likes of Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva who can come in and shine.
The team news comes as a blow as both players are potentially game-changers, but City fans were always going to be excited by their availability. West Ham are capable of pulling off an upset and should see it as a challenge more than anything.
