West Ham target Maxi Gomez is said to be delaying his potential move to the London Stadium after learning of interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to a report by Spanish outlet El Desmarque, as cited on Sport Witness, who say that the striker does not want to commit to the Hammers if there is a chance he could join a club who can offer him a higher level of football.
The Celta Vigo star has been heavily linked with a switch to London this summer as Manuel Pellegrini looks to strengthen ahead of next season.
Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez have already departed the club, while Javier Hernandez looks set to follow them out of the exit door – leaving West Ham in need of reinforcements.

Gomez, who scored 13 goals in La Liga during the 2018/19 season, is one of the players who has reportedly been lined up to come in, however, the transfer has been complicated by rumours of interest from London rivals Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are able to offer Champions League football and are hoping to challenge for honours again next season, factors which are thought to be appealing to the 22-year-old forward.
The report states that Gomez will wait to see if the reported Spurs interest materialises into something more serious before deciding what his next move will be.
West Ham are still hopeful of winning the race for his signature but may be forced to wait before completing a deal.
