West Ham reportedly eyed a deal for Saint-Maximin

According to reports in France, West Ham expressed an interest in recruiting Allan Saint-Maximin from OGC Nice in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a strong debut season with Nice following his departure from AS Monaco and seemingly piqued the interest of clubs from across Europe.

It’s claimed by France Football, as cited by Le10 Sport, that the Hammers were among the clubs who expressed an interest in signing the promising winger in the summer.

Saint-Maximin, who arrived at Nice for a fee worth just €10 million, scored on five occasions last season in all competitions and contributed with nine assists for his side.

West Ham were extremely busy during the summer and made significant efforts to improve their pool of creative options. Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko were both added to the squad, but Saint-Maximin appears to have been previously regarded as an option.

It’s stated in the report that La Liga duo Real Sociedad and Sevilla had expressed an interest in the Frenchman, while Liverpool were also keen.
