David Moyes will this summer make signing a defender the priority, with Lewis Dunk and Alfie Mawson his ideal targets.
The East London club have yet to come to an agreement over their transfer policy, with Premier League survival not yet guaranteed. David Moyes is also yet to sign a new contract.
The Hammers are reportedly keen for the Scotsman to stay and will look to hand him more control of transfers. The ex-Manchester United manager believes that West Ham will stay up and is already drawing up plans for next season.
Stoke are the only team to have conceded more goals than West Ham this season and Moyes wants to bring in a tough and commanding centre back with top flight experience to help solve their woes.
Both Mawson and Dunk were on West Ham’s radar in the last window but nothing came of the interest.

That could all change this summer with Hammers chairman David Sullivan promising money to spend after admitting to big failures in past windows. However, its worth noting that the West Ham board have made promises to the fans previously that have not been kept.
Mawson has been vital in Swansea’s revival under Carlos Carvahal, who does not want to sell his star man. The centre-half’s performances this seasons have landed him in contention for World Cup nod.

Manchester United and Tottenham are also believed to be after the Swans man, with the Welsh club valuing him at £40m.
Dunk would be the cheaper of the two centre backs but Brighton do not want to sell either, and as their survival looks increasingly guaranteed they will too start drawing up plans for the 2018-19 season.

Veterans James Collins and Winston Reid look to be on their way out of the London Stadium this summer but the highly rated Declan Rice could be a familiar face very soon for Irons fans.
