Leander Dendoncker was repeatedly linked with a move to West Ham in the January transfer window as the Anderlecht midfielder was reportedly the Hammers’ top defensive midfield target but they were unable to strike a deal for the player.
West Ham did make an attempt to sign the midfielder on transfer deadline day, leaving themselves awfully short of time to wrap the deal up, but their offer was rejected by the Belgian outfit.

Valued in excess of £20m by Anderlecht, Dendoncker was said to be eager to make the move to West Ham but the club’s quite frankly derisory offer was not good enough to tempt them into a sale.

It’s understood that the Hammers had proposed a deal worth a total of £13m to Anderlecht, offering a startling low £4.4m as an upfront payment, with another £8.6m to come in what’s believed to be in two further instalments.
With Pedro Obiang suffering a season-long injury, West Ham are short of cover in central midfield and perhaps they should’ve dug a little deeper into their pockets to bring Dendoncker to the club.
