Joe Hart to get first-team chances

West Ham manager David Moyes has told Joe Hart that the England No.1 will still have first-team opportunities with the Hammers.

The 30-year-old has not played for West Ham since the backend of November with Adrian maintaining his place in the team with a string of fine performances.

Hart, who was on loan at Italian side Torino last season, agreed to join the East London outfit in the hope of gaining consistent game time ahead of England’s involvement in the 2018 World Cup in Russia but a string of mistakes throughout the season thus far, has resulted in the goalkeeper losing his first-team place.

However, on the back of a busy Festive period for the Hammers, which included a last-gasp 2-1 victory over West Brom and a commendable 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Wembley, manager David Moyes is keen to give Hart some more game-time.

Reports have linked Newcastle with a move for the goalkeeper in the January window. However, Hart captains West Ham in the cup game against Shrewsbury on Sunday.

Moyes said, via the Guardian:

Joe will play a lot of Premier League games this season as well. I keep saying it. I thought Adrián pulled off one brilliant save at Tottenham when he put a shot over the bar in the first half and he has done well in the games he has played.

I am sure he is not overly happy with it but Joe is a top professional. I’m sure he’s had an understudy to him for 90% of his career and I think he’s acted in a really good manner. I’ve no doubt Joe will play Premier League games between now and the end of the season.
