After the embarrassing 4-0 home defeat to Manchester City, many thought the sky was falling, wanted rash changes to the team and club staff and thought the team were going nowhere.
Calm yourselves.
Slaven Bilic’s side put together a masterful performance on the south coast as they comfortably brushed aside Southampton 3-1.
Things got off to a rocky start when Manolo Gabbiadini scored after 12 minutes but the Hammers responded well and got back on level terms two minutes later when Pedro Obiang threaded the needle to find Andy Carroll who calmly slotted the ball past Fraser Forster.
West Ham were on top for much of the first half and their efforts were rewarded when Obiang scored his first goal for the club with a 25-yard rocket into the far corner.
Mark Noble put the Hammers out of sight when his free-kick was deflected beyond Forster by Steven Davis.
