West Ham striker Jonathan Calleri has promised to one day return to former club Sao Paulo, despite complications with his ownership.
Calleri is on loan at West Ham from Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado – a club he will never play for – but is expected to move on before the end of the transfer window after failing to score in any of his nine appearances for the club this season.

The 23-year-old is keen on a return to Sao Paulo, where he spent the first half of 2016, but his career is controlled by investors, who are keen for him to remain in Europe in hopes of him providing them with a big pay-out eventually.
Brazilian outlet Lance! (via Sport Witness) understand that Calleri accepts that he will not be able to rejoin Sao Paulo this month but made a promise to the fans to return when he can.

I tried everything, everything. But the group does not want me to go back to Brazil now. I can’t do anything else. One day I will return. It’s a promise.
His father, Guillermo Calleri, reiterated his son’s desires but whether the investment group ever allow his dreams to become a reality remains to be seen.
