West Ham came into today’s game unbeaten in three, winning the last two and keeping back-to-back clean sheets for the first time in two months.
Switching back to a 4-2-3-1 for the first time in nearly two months gave West Ham a more direct and assertive approach to their attack against Swansea. An approach which was rewarded as the Hammers put four past the hosts.
Andre Ayew scored his first West Ham goal after 13 minutes when he poked home from close range against the club he left for £20.5m in August.
The Hammers were on top the whole game and Winston Reid doubled the lead shortly after the second half restart when he nodded home from a pinpoint Dimitri Payet corner.
All three points were secured when Michail Antonio steered home a wayward Havard Nordtveit shot into an empty net.
Andy Carroll got on the scoresheet right at the depth with a well-timed volley shortly after Fernando Llorente gave Swansea a consolation goal.
Three wins in a row for Slaven Bilic’s men who now sit 11th in the table, eight points clear of the relegation zone and feasibly could be as high as 9th come New Year’s Day, results depending.
Here are out player ratings from today’s terrific win in South Wales.
