West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has called for Metropolitan Police officers to be deployed inside London Stadium during all future Hammers games, following disruption during Saturday’s 4-2 loss to Watford.
According to The Telegraph, Brady was spat on by fans whilst watching West Ham’s game against the Hornets at the weekend, during which there was a breach in segregation between the home and away fans, as well as in-fighting amongst members of the West Ham support.
There were 700 stewards on duty at the match, with many of those having come from West Ham’s stewarding staff at Upton Park – but a more authoritative presence is felt necessary by Brady, with West Ham not being in charge of the stewarding.

That instead falls at the feet of LS185, who are the operators of London Stadium. Brady will meet with LS185 on Tuesday to discuss the wish for police presence within the ground, with both parties looking for a fast resolution to fan troubles at the Premier League side’s games.
The club and LS185 have been asked to draw up a report on the issues for Newham Council, whilst outlining what will be done to prevent re-occurrence of such incidents.
