Bony approach made by West Ham

Wilfried Bony could move on loan to West Ham United in order to help out with their growing list of injured players, according to the Telegraph. The Hammers have been chasing strikers all summer, and recently signed Andre Ayew for a club-record fee, but have ended up with both the Ghanaian and Andy Carroll on the sidelines for lengthy spells, leaving them with a shortage. They have made an inquiry for the 27-year-old Bony.

Bony looks set to leave City, and the Telegraph also report that The Blues have agreed a deal for him to move to the Chinese Super League at the start of 2017. Before then, he looks unlikely to feature in Pep Guardiola’s plans at any point, and could be loaned out to West Ham until the end of the calendar year as Slaven Bilic looks to cope with his growing list of injuries.

The London Stadium club had been linked with a move for the forward previously, but interest had come to nothing before they brought in Ayew and Jonathan Calleri on loan from Deportivo Maldonado. £20.5m man Ayew then picked up a potentially four-month torn thigh injury during his debut against Chelsea, while Carroll sprained his knee in the 1-1 Europa League draw at Astra Giurgiu.

Kelechi Iheanacho overtook Bony in the pecking order up-front for City last season, and hasn’t shown any sign of letting up on his development just yet, meaning opportunities for the Ivorian signed from Swansea in 2015 will be limited until he leaves. West Ham, who are looking to build on a 7th place finish in the Premier League last year, could provide him with games until he departs for China.
