West Ham welcome Bournemouth to the London Stadium on Sunday for the inaugural Premier League match at West Ham’s new home in Stratford.
In this fixture last season, Bournemouth edged a seven-goal thriller 4-3 thanks to a hat-trick by Callum Wilson, although I’m sure Hammers fans fondly remember the game as it was the last time Modibo Maiga scored in a claret and blue shirt before leaving the club.
At the Vitality Stadium, the Hammers had their revenge in a 3-1 win over the Cherries thanks to a brace from Enner Valencia and a sumptuous free kick from Dimitri Payet.
The Hammers will be hoping that the latter can repeat itself on Sunday following Monday’s defeat to Chelsea.
We’ve had some fun and tried to pick out the best XI and bench from the two squads. For the sake of argument, we’re not factoring in injuries or form, we want the best team possible if everyone’s available. We’ve tried to give it a bit of an even split, but we know West Ham are better so they feature more prominently here.
